CUERNAVACA
Home Study Program - 2003
Live in Mexico and Learn Spanish by
"Total Immersion" for 21 days at
THE SPANISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE
Cuernavaca, Mexico
JUNE 7 - 27
Chances are you have never had a language learning experience like this:
---classroom study with no more than five students;
---experienced native instructor who will ONLY speak Spanish;
---living with a Mexican family.
Will you soon be speaking Spanish? Not soon. Immediately! And before long, you will be dreaming in Spanish too!
L I V E . . .
Your experience begins with your flight via American Airlines from DFW International Airport to Mexico City. After a short drive to Cuernavaca, the "City of Eternal Spring," 55 miles south of Mexico City, you will be introduced to your carefully selected, Spanish-speaking Mexican family, chosen for their willingness to work closely with The Spanish Language Institute. They will provide comfortable accommodations (most have pools), three wholesome meals a day, safe drinking water, a warm, helpful family atmosphere and supportive language practice.
T H E S C H O O L . . .
The Spanish Language Institute, located in a quiet residential district in Cuernavaca, occupies modern facilities which include spacious classrooms, a language laboratory, offices, landscaped grounds with fountains, an outdoor patio-cafe and a swimming pool.
S T U D Y . . .
At the Institute, you will be given a placement test--written and oral--prior to being assigned a language class. You will attend Spanish classes 5 days a week for 5 hours a day, grouped with no more than 4 other students with similar ability levels in Spanish. Your experienced, Spanish-speaking instructor will be a dedicated professional who delivers not only a carefully structured language program, but also participates in the Institute's social, cultural and research program.
You should expect to be assigned some homework--brief written exercises to reinforce verbal skills learned in the classroom. Beginners often are pleasantly surprised at how soon they are able to write a simple paragraph in Spanish, while more advanced students generally find writing in Spanish as easy as conversation.
You will also study Mexican history, art, culture and current issues--especially those affecting the young people in Mexico--in informal group sessions.
E N J O Y . . .
In addition to attending classes, you will participate in conversation groups, field trips, cooking classes, singing classes, fiestas and guided tours to places of interest in and around Cuernavaca, including a weekend resort trip with our group!
You will have the opportunity to sample the cuisine of Cuernavaca's restaurants, go to the movies (in Spanish, of course), "people watch" at popular sidewalk cafes, attend fiestas, swim and sunbathe, bargain for "treasures" in the many outdoor markets, or just enjoy conversing in Spanish with your new Mexican friends.

"The Cuernavaca Home/Study Program - 2002" offers you the unique experience of learning a foreign language while living in another culture. If you have taken Spanish before, you will now have the opportunity to apply the concepts you have already learned and see a dramatic improvement in your ability to communicate and understand! If you are a beginner, you will be amazed at how quickly you attain functional fluency! **************************************************************************
