Verano en Espaa

The Verano en Espaa program is the ideal way to reinforce and fine-tune the Spanish skills gained in the classroom.  Students have the opportunity to use the language on a daily basis during their home stay in Salamanca as well as on the tour of Andaluca.

Students will gain a greater appreciation of Spanish culture through visits to the monuments and historical sites they have read about as well as through their interactions in everyday life.

Highlights of the program include:

Three-week home stay with a Spanish family in the university city of Salamanca

Three weeks of classes at the Hispano Continental School

One week tour of Madrid and Andaluca (Granada, Crdoba and Sevilla)

Tours of Toledo, Segovia, El Escorial and Valle de los Cados

Guided tours of Salamanca

Tarde de tapas

Excursion on horseback

Afternoon movies

What other participants have said:

The Spain I found turned out very different from the Spain I had expected.  What I thought would be a mediocre trip was one of the best vacations Ive ever had.  Spain has a rich culture, wonderful people, plenty of things to see, and a language and history that deserved more respect than I had been willing to give them.  I hope to return to study while Im at college, but until then, I recommend that any Spanish-speakers who want to learn more about the language theyre studyingand who want to have a great time in the processto try Mrs. Marmions trip.  Theyll be glad they did.

I believe my speaking, writing and listening skills have all improved in Spain.  For the first time, I am feeling comfortable speaking the language.

I loved this trip and the experience it provided and all that I learned. I will recommend it to my friends.

Era muy divertido, y si una persona quiere, puede aprender mucho espaol.

I think both my vocabulary and my fluency improved. I no longer have to think before I say everything.

Tell anyone to plan to actually work some (not all play).  Bring plenty of film!  I would recommend it to my friends who would want to work some, learn about another culture, and have fun!

I enjoyed the excursions and my classes were fun.  I learned a lot, and I think my speaking ability improved a great deal.

My Spanish has improved.  My vocabulary is larger and Im not afraid to speak anymore.

I thought this program was really awesome.
