St. Marks School of Texas
Muse Program 2003
What is the Muse Program?
The St. Marks Muse Program is a four-week, tuition-free enrichment program in literature, math, science, and social studies. Students receive 20 hours of instruction in these areas plus photography, computer word processing, physical education, poetry workshops, and model rocket building.
Who are the teachers?
The teachers are current and former students of St. Marks School of Texas. The goal of the program is not only to provide educational opportunities of young pupils, but also to allow our students to explore teaching.
Who can participate?
Each year we seek boys going into the seventh and eighth grades who have a passion for learning, rarely balk at the prospect of homework, and stand to gain from continued instruction during the summer. We want to emphasize that if a student undertakes this program, he is expected to attend school every day and to complete assignments.
When is the Muse Program?
The dates of the program are from Friday, June 7, 2002, to Friday, July 5, 2002. The school day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Do the boys have fun outside the classroom?
In years past, we have visited the Omni Theater in Fort Worth, attended the Sousa Concert at the Meyerson Symphony Hall, rock climbed at Exposure, toured the SMU campus, eaten at an Indian restaurant, helped with community service at Old City Park, and taken a canoe trip down the Trinity River.
How do we get to St. Marks?
Transportation to St. Marks is provided from Burnet Elementary and Foster Elementary.
What do they need to bring with them?
The only items students need to furnish are their lunch and a beverage each day.
Where is St. Marks?
St. Marks School of Texas is located just south of Royal Lane at 10600 Preston Road in Dallas.
