Week 5 Rocketry Skills Tutorial (Very Large 5 Mbyte Flash file!)

  1. Open A Word File.

  2. How to use the Word Toolbar.

  3. Using Headers  [Title Of Document].

  4. Using Footers [Youths First & Last Name, File Name, Committee Name, Date, Page #].

  5.  How To Use Bullets and Numbering.

  1. Work on typing The Mission Statement page of the Business Plan.

Design A Virtual Space Ship On The Computer.  This rocket ship designed by students will explore our solar system and, by it's creation and execution, will help foster international cooperation. Such an endeavor, like the international space station, would require many nations to come together to contribute ideas, manpower, and resources to build and fly such a spacecraft. By comparing our home to other planets in the areas of planetary development, geology, climate, and possibly biology, mankind will learn more about how our own planet's systems interact to create things that affect us all across political boundaries: climate, geology, and biology. By better understanding how all of these systems work together to support our biosphere, we can create international cooperation to ensure a unified approach to planet-wide issues.

Each Of The 4 Groups Will Design A Rocket; Groups Will Then Select The Best Design For Their Business Proposal.
  1. Selects His / Her Own Graphics or Clip Art for the Mission Statement page and Inserts a picture.

  2. Save the File to a Network Folder or your local computer.

  1. The Nine Planets   > History of the 9 planets.

  2. Solarviews   > History of space exploration & comparison charts.

  3. 3-D Tour of the Planets   > Great  3-D tour of planets if you have the special glasses. We don't, but there is still lots of great information here.

  4. Flagstaff Observatory Planetary Tour   > This world-renowned telescope has great resources for beginning space explorers

  5. Jet Propulsion Laboratory's (JPL's) Planetary Bodies Tour   > The NASA location that runs the robotic space missions that collect pictures and information on our solar system is one of the main libraries for planetary images. Good descriptions accompany these pictures.

JPL Planetary Table of Comparisons   > Want to know how many Mercury's it would take to balance out one Jupiter? You could calculate it from this massive data table. A side-by-side comparison of the planets.

  •  When you finished filling in the Planetary Comparison Table or your instructor tells that time is up, make sure you SAVE the WORD DOCUMENT AGAIN!
